The chaos with the dosages of vitamins & Co. - Part 1

Do you know it? You stand in front of the shelf at the drugstore shaking your head, wondering where the perfect dose for a multivitamin actually is. Is it three grams? Or 300 milligrams?

Annoyed, you put the bottle with the small print back on the shelf. Better no preparation at all than the wrong one – with which you are not entirely wrong!

But should you therefore do without the positive effect of additional vitamins? No, of course not! It is only important that you know which dose will really help you.

Ingredients under the microscope

Today we’re taking a closer look at the small print on the packaging – so you can make a well-informed decision in the end.

First, let’s take a quick look at the two most common weight units for vitamins, minerals, and vital nutrients:

  1. Milligram, abbreviated as mg. 1,000 milligrams = 1 gram.
  2. Microgram, abbreviated as µg. 1,000 micrograms = 1 milligram.

In our product
Forte
you will find a total of 1,000 mg of vitamin C – exactly 1 gram. The product also contains 900 µg of vitamin A – i.e. 0.9 milligrams.

The right dose for the desired effect

So much for the numbers games. Now comes the next step: you need to know where the effective dose starts in your multi-vitamin supplement. In fact, many products contain so few active ingredients that they are of no benefit to you. When I look at the preparations in the supermarket or drugstore, I usually find vitamin C concentrations of around 50 to 200 mg in them – which is clearly too little.

As a rule of thumb, multivitamin supplements with 300 mg of vitamin C or less won’t do you much good for boosting your immune system. The vitamin C does not unfold its full benefit in this concentration.
Why? Because 300 mg is just enough to cover the minimum requirement. In everyday life, you will not feel any improvement with this amount. For this to happen, there would have to be a very pronounced vitamin C deficiency, for example due to a completely wrong diet.

Conclusion: If you want to get the best for your health, you need a higher dose.
